Muah-ha-ha-haaaaaaaaa! I have them all fooled!

December 21, 2008

We had a holiday party here yesterday, which I feel went pretty well.  We set it up open-house style, so people could come and go throughout the afternoon, and RB and I would have the chance to do more than just yelp “HI!” and pour drinks.

It worked, mostly.  We had a good turnout, with a pleasing ebb and flow, the cats had the cute-factor on overdrive, and we didn’t run out of anything but cider.   I saw people I haven’t seen in, literally, years (as many as eight, in one case, which makes me feel so old),  but I didn’t get enough one-on-one time with everyone.  At a number of points in the evening, I looked around and thought “I have amazing, brilliant, funny, gifted, fascinating, wonderful friends.”

Only once did I follow up with: “so why are they hanging out with me?”  But I quickly decided that somehow I’m pulling off a magnificent con, and that I shouldn’t let it show on my face, even for a moment.

Seriously, though, there was a lot of smart and charming up in here.  I am very, very lucky.

  1. It is true that I am extremely fun and charming, but you, my friend, are smart and awesome. As are your cats. And your dude.
